Ok so I was thinking that I would like to put an awning on my truck. However I would like to put it on the back, not the side. What brands are the ones to buy, and do they come is 8ft wide? Thanks,

Dodger

...I hate awnings....but if you have to have one....I'd suggest "CARE FREE"....other than that...I hate them with a passion....moldy-ripped-bent-wind blown headaches....IMHO....geofkaye and the Rivercity Group......

Agree with Geofkaye on the usefulness of awnings. Took our "A" clear down to Detroit... not a short trip for us, and had an awning installed. Used it, with carpet and all the amenities for some camping, and found that we used it less and less until we just enjoyed the outside sans awning. No worries about wind, filling with water if we didn't aim it correctly, and putting it in while we hiked, went for a drive in the toad or whatever. Not worth the trouble in my opinion.

dodger-- i think that a lot of whether you will use your awning depends on where you'll be going. if it's anywhere in the south-- nashville south-- particullary the south west--- you'll enjoy it----- mase

I live in Tennessee, and love the awning on my camper. Since I don't always take the camper where I go, an awning on the truck would be great. Also would be handy for putting shade over a motorbike or a boat engine that I may be working on.
