Default Dackwagon!

Hi all, thanks for leaving the door cracked enough for me to stick my big nose it. (You may regret it!)

At the stage where I need to register Dackwagon, a 2001 Aliner Scout hard-side pop-up camper mounted on the frame rails of a 2001 Mitsubishi Fuso Fg649 4x4 truck with a flexible mount that will prevent the twisting truck frame from turning the camper into a twisted pile of scrap!

I need to register it in upstate NY, (Dackwagon = adironDACK wagon). I've seen many local pickup truck drivers register them with commercial plates, presumably because it's cheaper? Not sure. If so, maybe I should do the same.

If I do, will I need a CDL? How about stopping at weigh stations or DOT inspections? Would the commercial plate require that?

Here's my website. Tons of pictures and explanations about what I'm doing, how, and why.

Thanks!

Eugene, Oregon.
I modify commercial trucks to RecreateVehicle through the big three:
* Galley
" Head
* Bunk.
.
My latest project is a crew-cab fire-truck.
I removed the apparatus; the rear frame is bare, no structure.
Our Motor Vehicle bureaucrats registered that as a RecreateVehicle based on my plans and drawings.
.
I insure it as a RecreateVehicle.
