Here is the seam all foamed up. Cant figure out why they don't do this when building the van body ?

Bob86ZZ4 05-08-2015 09:36 AM

Cost, and there usually isn't anybody living in the box so the builders don't care if the wind blows through it. Looks great.

Think is more the "builders don't care" thing ?

Thanks, it just seamed the thing to do .

The work for today. Not much but it sure eats up time. Bath vent and some outlets.

i dont necessarily disagree...but to a builder its all about maximizing margin & turning out production.

Bob86ZZ4 05-08-2015 09:08 PM

I have a cover over my vent that allows me to keep the inner cover open and run the fan even in the rain and while running down the road. Most people say it's best to shut the vent when rolling because cross winds can rip them off. With the bigger cover you can leave the vent open and not worry about rain coming in.

Schiada 05-08-2015 09:18 PM

Got one to install. A good idea to keep it closed when running .

A little wiring.

Schiada 05-12-2015 08:15 PM

Part of that stuff is CAT5 for the PC. Maybe over doing it.

bushpilot 05-12-2015 08:18 PM

why on earth do you need wired ethernet connection in this day & age ? especially in an RV.

are you setting up for a wireless repeater ? thats the only thing i can think of that might need a single ethernet connection.

Schiada 05-12-2015 08:31 PM

With the metal walls it will help with TV and stuff. With luck. Its old school but it may help.Going to install WiFiRanger Go2 also.

bushpilot 05-12-2015 08:39 PM

the TV antenna is on the roof though, as should be the wifi / repeater antenna.
as for a personal hotspot, placing it near a window should be fine.

once the signal is inside the box you shouldn't need any wired connections really.

Thanks Don.

Been working on some landing gear. Had some #10,000 jacks that I used on some thing ? Got a pair of scissor's jack motors with 3/4 hex drives. Used a G'8 bolt to take the place of the jack crank, drilled a hole for the pin and welded up a bracket to hold the motor. Still working out best placement ? Thinking the outer rear box as in the photo.

Testing has proved that the motors are, lets just say under-powered. But with the emergency drive it works just fine. May rethink the electric motor but ?

It would give me a little bit of adjustment L & R of off level . My chassis sits very flat but its the RV sites and any wind ?

I think you're going to have to do a lot of beefing up to mount the jack out there like that first picture.

Schiada 05-15-2015 12:23 PM

I have been thinking about a mount to the frame . As for the box I would need to add a angled bar over to the frame point. Boxes are .120 wall 1x2.

The big thing is the "I" beam of the floor. Don't think it will take much load . A tie to the frame will help, but ?

Still thinking, can't you see the smoke ?

Ducting is now in ! Will move on to installing the 4 camera system. One will look at the hitch, one just looking back and 2 side looking to the rear. With luck I will be able to see things better ?

Thanks,BP.

Installed the front camera's. Passenger side needed to be lower to clear the Awning. When It gets here. Its a 18' . Now I will be able to see what I hit ? LOL:p

bushpilot 05-16-2015 05:01 PM

never considered placing the cameras on the box itself - i like that.
you cant put them any lower ? or angle them down ? so you can see the lane a little better ?

Ive considered adding TWO cameras (one in the living area) & one in the rear bedroom - so as i drive i can check on everyone, especially the wife if she's in the far back sleeping.

Schiada 05-16-2015 06:01 PM

That would be a good idea. But with my Wife, she hast to right seat drive !
