I just joined!

I'm a newbie. I just found this site. Can't wait to chat with everyone and learn more about these type of of rigs. I will post some of mine tonight when I get to my home PC.

THUNDERUSONE 03-17-2013 05:10 PM

Testing to see if my signature showed up.

welcome! tell us about your rig.

Welcome to the site fellow Renegade owner!!!

THUNDERUSONE 03-17-2013 10:12 PM

Thanks guys! The basic info is in my signature. The thumbnail pick in my Avatar is it. I will post some pics sometime tomorrow. For some reason I cant upload them from my phone. I am out in the shop trying to finish up an exterior tv upgrade where I increased the size and went to a smart TV with 3D. If you click on my user ID, there is a little bigger picture of it that you can see.

Ok, here are some pics of my Rig. These were taken yesterday when I went to Walmart to top off with cheap (relative to truckstops in my area) diesel fuel.

Thanks Brotha! I just looked at all of your pics and yours is Badazz too! I love the Hiding from the HOA picture. I have mine inside the shop I built. All of the neighbors call in on me from time to time and they swear that I operate a commercial business out of my shop behind my house. I work downtown 30 miles from home. Codes comes out every 6 months to see if there are any new toys. :D

Bob86ZZ4 03-18-2013 09:06 PM

Nice truck conversion! I like that rear slide too. Consider coming over to Kansas in Oct. for the HDT Rally . It's a great gathering of heavy duty campers. We need more Truck Conversions tho.

That shop is pretty neat too. We need some outside pics of that. And some inside pics of the t/c. Thank you!

yeah we have since found great storage (less then 2 miles from the house),
20x50 private bay (individual roll up door) - each bay has its own dedicated 50a connection along w/ several additional 20a circuits.

the lot is secure/gated and has a wash bay & dump tank on site.

Id love to have ours in our own garage on our own lot, closer to the house - but until we locate more land w/ a house that aint happening.

screw the <current> HOA - i was on the board for 6 yrs...the present board has no leg to stand on as far as deed enforcement - they dont wanna to enforce anything so theyve opened the door for law suits based on the grounds of "selective enforcement" - i had to get off that board, was too afraid someone would sue and id get dragged into it personally.

Looks like you have a lot of fun ahead of you. The exterior TV is the bomb!

haulingts 03-19-2013 10:11 AM

Have you had any issues with being over-length with towing the hummer - with the rig being 47', and most states either at 65' max for motorhomes it doesn't leave much room for tow vehicle length. Anyone else out there finding DOT issues with overall length?

id love to know more about this tv mount - make model etc.
does the tv fold UP so you can use some of the storage when the set is stowed ?

The tv folds back up. You push the bottom of the tv toward the truck and it goes up flat and locks. Then you slide the whole unit in and it locks. It only takes up about 8" of the very yop of the locker. It has a shelf below the screen to protect it from anything bouncing up from the bottom. I will post detailed pics when I finish the wiring.

No. I don't stop at weigh stations and I keep hauling azz and looking straight ahead. I have a 27' flatbed dovetail that I pull a 91 suburban conerted rockcrawler and a rhino on. That puts me at about 75'. If I put the boat behind it, I am almost 100'.

Samsung - 32" Class (31-1/2" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - 120Hz - Smart - 3D - HDTV - UN32ES6500FXZA - Best Buy

I did a Ton of research to get the biggest screen that would fit and also be thin enough to fold up with the mount and slide out. It works perfectly. I have HD Directv and I also wired it in to the outside stereo so that it goes through the external speakers on the side of the coach and the Sub I put in. I have an RF remote so that I can control the directv box outside even with the door shut. If you are in a park you can use thier WiFi for netflix and other apps. It has youtube and a web browser in addition to 3d. If the park doesn't have wifi or you are not in a park, I use my ipad or phone as a hotspot.

bushpilot 03-19-2013 03:49 PM

good hints / ideas on the iPad/netflix (ive dont that w/ my personal wifi/hotspot - usually dry camping at a race track).

actually my inquiry was more related to the brand/make & model of the slide-out mounting arm, not so much the tv set (but that too is helpful, in that i hadnt considered getting a tv w/ web/browser capability).

ive seen some (side mounts that fold, but nothing that had the fold up & car/stereo attachment)....so im curious who makes your mounting bracket/slide

Sorry brother... I misunderstood the question. Renegade made the original mount and I have modified and fabbed from there. I am pretty sure that I have a picture of what I started with. I should finish it tonight and I will post some pics.

bushpilot 03-20-2013 04:25 PM

no need to apologize - i was the one that wasnt very clear.
im gonna bet that renegade sourced that mount/slide from someone....if you get a chance there might be a label or p/n some where on it.

this looks similar to what you may have (retails for about 175) -

I modified the mount so that it would rotate left and right. It is pretty cool since it is a smart TV. You can use it as an internet browser. I had it on truckconversion.net last night. :D

Here are a few pics with it tilted toward the front of the truck. It was on Netflix playing an old episode of "My Name is Earl"

Here are a few pics of the unit folded up and slid back in in the locked position. I raised the shelf up since this TV was alot thinner to give me more storage room, protect the TV and keep the mount from flexing too much if you hit a hard pothole. The mount is really sturdy. More than likely it will never touch the shelf....but it gives me piece of mind.

Bush, that looks like the same mount I have. There were no part #'s that I could find anywhere. It looks like they either built the slide out box with the 12v car stereo in it or sourced it from another supplier. Then they bolted the tv mount up to the bottom of it. Initially mine did not turn from side to side. It was fixed straight ahead. Getting one that will swivel is definately worth the extra effort based on what little I have used it so far.

Cool! Be sure to get on the front row so you can see the big boat traffic coming in off the Gulf. If I didn't have a commitment Monday, we would go down there for thanksgiving. Another good place that we have been going is Destin, Florida's CAMP GULF RV Park & Campground. It's not too far.from Perdido Cove. You can pull.right up on the beach on the Gulf side.

Another brand new place that has just opened up.is New RV Resort, Breathtaking Views, Fireplaces, BathHouse, STAY WITH US. It is one of the nicest places.we have been to. It is very close to Gatlinburg. On Douglas Lake. The views of the smokey mountains are breathtaking. I even ran into another Renegade owner there.

i tried to pick a space over the phone when i made the reservation but they told me the front row was full & that the spaces were not assigned until i arrived. :(

we're gonna head that way tomorrow

my brother in law lives in fort walton / destin so we'll be in his driveway wednesday & thursday night before we head up to perdido key rv on friday morning (early) ;)

I was thinking we might stay monday & tuesday night at St Rosa RV Resort - i didnt necessarily wanna drive the entire trip in one day (was gonna take our time...but plans change when family is involved).

like that place (too)....kinda cool w/ the built in fireplaces & fire pits.

might have to try that - we usually blow thru knoxville (via i75/i40/i81) a couple times a year to and from houston / front royal (va)

If the front row is full, I would probably stay at St Rosa. That place looks nice! That one just went into the must go to list. We may hit that one xmas. Anchor Down is a must. You won't regret it. The pool at anchor down if you are there when it is warm is off the hook!

this trip it isn't so much about the front row as it is being close to our son, he's living just around the corner from the rv resort.

the weather is gonna be kinda cool (50s & 60s) anyway, so something off the water won't kills us ;)

Roger that. It is convenient for sure. They have reserved the front row in the past for us when we would reserve a couple of months out. They may have changed policy with the economy heating back up.
