Okay, I took a 4800 mile 3 week trip with mine in May. We left MN, and turned around when we hit the Pacific. I always set the cruise control about 72-74 mph. I have 200 gallons of fresh water. I weigh 27k with full fuel and water. I keep very good records, always filling the twin 60 gallon tanks at each fuelling. Run it down to about 1/4 on the guage and fill up. My overall mpg for the entire trip was 9.8. And, we ran the generator whenever I wanted to and that takes fuel from the tanks, so I have no idea how much that used. I guess I should have marked down the hours in my log? Would I have gotten better mpg if I slowed down? I don't know. I'm showing 1525 rpm's at 73mph. I bet that all wheel drive E550 doesn't do much better than that. Maybe I'm wrong. My truck also only has about 70k miles on it now. I'm told they get even better mpg when they get up toward 100k miles. I didn't slow down a bit on any of the climbs either. Climbing Vail Pass at 70 mph was soooo fun. My coolant temp was below 190 the whole time. How many miles do you guys put on a year? A big year for me was '09. I put 10k on that year. I might go over that this year due to that CA trip.
