I recently got what is essentially a stealth tiny home in a 20 foot 2007 Isuzu NPR 4x4 converted box truck. I need to weigh this thing. It's extremely well done, but perhaps a little too well done for the puny 300ish hp 6.0 Vortec 6000 LQ4 gas engine. It's slogging down to 30mph on any substantial grade.
Now, I'm not trying to turn it into some kind of hot rod, but it would be nice to have a little bit more oomph. Enough to add a hitch to tow, say, a smart car or a small trailer. The way I see it I have two broad options, neither of them particularly inexpensive: add a supercharger, or just swap in a larger crate engine. Anyone have experience with supercharging a cabover vehicle like this? Meanwhile I'm told just about any LS series gas engine would fit up to a 454. Of course it would be cool to put a 12 valve p-pump Cummins in there, probably cost a bit more to go that route. I realize a supercharger will be substantially cheaper, but will that add enough horsepower?
