I'm thinking I'd add some gussets where the bracket welds to the sheet metal of the grill, just to spread out the load beyond the one weld point. I need to build one of those!

I've always used 3/8" plywood on the walls of my stuff. Not that much more weight in the larger scheme of things, and makes the wall nice and solid. Plus heavy enough to screw things to the wall...
