So I was looking at pictures of my truck and noticed there are no back shocks. I was figuring that I was going to have to remove some leafs to soften up the suspension. My question is, should I also add shocks? I want it to ride smoothly since it will be a walk through. Thanks,

....SMOOTH RIDE AND SPRINGS ARE NOT GOING TO HAPPEN..PLAN ON AIR BAGS TO DO THE JOB AND ADD SHOCKS TO LIMIT THE BOUNCE....geofkaye and the Rivercity Girlz

dodger,
I am planning on the same trick for my truck. It is a cheap bandaid till I can come up with the cash for a GOOD air conversion. I have driven "air ride" Medium duty trucks that rode worse than my spring ride. It seems that its worth the extra money to do it right. Anyway I had a buddy that trimmed the leaf just passed the banding on the first couple of leafs (leaves???). This weakened the overall spring without changing the ride height. Its also a lot cheaper. He loves it. said it made a world of difference, for not much money. I plan on this for a temporary fix.

For sure you'll want to add shocks too. I wonder why somebody took the shocks off? Think they never had shocks on it? That would be odd.

Bob,
That's what I thought. Mine didn't come with rear shocks either. I'm gonna channel my inner hillbilly (with some welding tools) and rectify that situation. If you hadn't noticed yet, I'm not afraid to try and fix anything. This is not always a good thing. A little fear might have kept me from trying to do things I shouldn't. https://www.truckhome.com/infopop/emo.../icon_wink.gif

I looked at a lot of trucks on ebay and other sites, and none of them have back shocks. So I guess I will draw up some mounts and make em when I get home. Thanks for the cool idea about cutting the leaves (leafs?. Did he cut the bottom ones, or did he start from the top? Thanks,

He described it as cutting the lower leafs to make a kind of mounting block. I believe his idea is to remove the help that the shorties supply without actually removing the leaf, thus giving more travel and less support. Let me know how it goes.

Well I will take lots of pictures and keep record of how it works out. I will be getting into that around April when I get home. Thanks for the tip!
