Box truck conversion to an RV please help...
 

Hello everyone,
I purchased a box truck with RV generator and lights already installed in it , it was used by a cable company as their emergency management office so it is kind of insulated already and it had also an A/C , It has Honda RV generator EV 6010 Installed, but there are two batteries and and one inverter attached with generator, i wanted to know that if someone knows how does this generator works gas or battery??? i am not aware anything about RV conversion , I need some help ......

Your generator may be deisel but I doubt it, there is probably a gasoline tanks close by, the invertor will convert your gennys 112v to 12 volt to charge those batts, then with the genny not running, you may run 112 off the batts as your invertor converts 12v battery power to 112V outlet. pretty cool really. you have to know how everything works, so that you don't run out of power some where. my guess is there is a spot to plug a big 30 or 50 amp cord so you can run off shore power also.

Hi GK76, sounds like a good start to your camper. A handy tool for me has been my little volt/ohm meter. About $50 for a reasonably good one at Radio Shack, or $15 for a acceptable one at Harbor Freight or Nothern Tools. I always have one in the cabinet on my coach. But testing things with it you will likely be able to learn a lot about how your generator is installed and works. Posting pictures here does help the tactile learners like me.

Like Blizz said, this is a pretty quiet forum. I suspect it's because our campers are so reliable we're all out enjoying them rather than working on them.

Welcome to the wonderful world of converting commercial to RV. You will have many interesting experiences. Some good, some not so good...lol

You have a nice leg up from where I started.. I would have *loved* to have a honda 6k genny to start with. But for what I have in my truck right now, my little Ryobi 2k does the job, and is quiet. I have plans to eventually upgrade my entire electrical system. But my little 410w inverter powers the items I need. The rest I use when I fire the genny once per day.
