I was looking at a used F650 Supercruizer with a 300 HP Cat and Allison. I was wondering what aftermarket items are available to increase the performance of this engine? I know I'll get a lot of get a class 8 answers but this looks like a good deal and the cab layout of a 4 door crew cab is a LOT better for my 3 kids.

Check with a CAT dealer and see if that engine can be increased. CAT dealers will do it if possible. That type of engine is not like the pickup diesel where there a lot of aftermarket options.

Also the transmission might be a limiting factor on a horsepower increase.

The 3126 can be programmed to 330 hp, but as I am sure is the case with the new M2 the radiator is going to limit the ponies that motor can be turned up to in the F650.

Edge makes a plug in module for a 3126(B&E):

There's some tricks with resistors on a couple of the sensors, but not too effective(10hp or so)

.....one issue here I want to mention is that the 3126e is warrantied for 8 years total if used in a Recreation vehicle....if you "box it out" there might be warranty issues of the dam thing goes south for whatever reason.....one needs to consider all the consequences of ones actions.....remember that Cat has a pretty smart 'puter bolted to the side of that engine....geofkaye-[who would love to crank his up.....but the 8 year warranty is an important issue.........]

We have an edge box on our 3126. It has four settings, we use the most aggressive, adds 40 hp and 140 lbs torque. REALLY makes a difference in performance of the truck. Have used it for about 30,000 miles now and it makes a real truck out of the 3126. If you have any doubts, it just takes 2 minutes to take the box off, run it both ways and if you do not like it, send it back. When I take mine to shop, I always pull the box off, if I forget to put it back on I can tell in just a minute that I forget, it makes that much difference. Also had to take truck to allison to get transmission reporgrammed, different sifting points with the increased torque. Gene
