Hello I'm new to the site my name is Chris and I'm starting a build on a 1984 Peterbilt 359 long nose. Were building a 24 foot box and would like to install a slide into. Were just not sure how to go about it meaning if we should buy a kit or find a old rv in a junk yard and remove one from it. I have no idea were to start with that as far as the box were building out of 2x2 square tube 1/8 wall and roof bows out of 2x3 tube 1/8 wall. The floor is built out of 3inch channel and 4x2 3/8 wall sill rails. The box is very strong and starting to cut windows and door in but relly want to put a slide out in. Anyone have any ideas thanks chris

This should be a great looking truck when you're done. Are you going to twin chrome stacks on it?

Oh yea were going to put some 6inch stacks on her and dress her up in lots of chrome

Welcome to the site. Looking forward to your build. Do you have a floor plan? Are you talking about one or two slides? I would think using an old slide would save money but be harder to work with. Keep the pictures coming. Nice to see another 359. What engine and transmission do you have?

My t/c has a Liftco slide in it. Welcome to Liftco, Inc. - Liftco - RV Beds, Flush Floor Systems, RV Folding Beds, Glide Outs, Manual Roller Slideouts, RV Beds, Stabilizing Systems, and more! They are a top notch slide builder. Might want to look around on their site and then call them and talk to an engineer or sales person. Wasn't there a guy around here building a drop deck box trailer that was putting in his own slides?

I think it was 377pete. But I can't find any photo albums of his.

Here it is: https://www.truckconversion.net/forum...ll-slide-4188/

Looks like a bunch of the pictures are gone due to bad links. Darn.

Thanks Ken
I'm waiting for the wife to change it again but as of right know we have one and locked in. I'm thinking probly not going to go with slide. We have room and its just the 2 of us. I have 25 feet of space and I'm thinking that will work fine. Were planing on putting in some big windows and make it open looking. The truck has 3406 cat 425hp with a 15 speed eaton tranny motor is fresh as well as tranny all rebuilt she gets up and goes. We have it turned up a little. Need to find some leveling jacks and finish out the basement on the box and we will have must of it all framed out ready for sheathing. thanks
