Do you have any friendship with a car dealer? If you know somebody they could loan you a dealer plate to drive it to their dealership. Of course you might get lost trying to get to the dealership and end up in your driveway.

I bet a fart in church would go over well too........ Although I did drive my pick up home from Ironwood, Mi to my house (and for three days) with no plates on it. Somehow I would think that a class 8 truck will be somewhat harder to hide in traffic.

I think an HDT is actually in some ways easier to sneak around in. Most local cops really don't pay much attention to them. No plate on the back makes it kind of hard to check them out without pulling them over for something. And, most cops figure the driver is a working man and most cops would rather pressure crooks than working people. And there just aren't that many commercial vehicle enforcement officers around.

You need to quit using common sense with this......You're screwing up my thought process!
Actually, I have found that trying to do things the legal way is usually the least expensive way.

Yea, I knew he was a LEO, but I don't remember if I knew he was retired. Oh well, sometimes it takes very little to de-rail my though process.......

I THOUGHT I found a truck..... This truck was listed on Craigslist for $6512 2004 Freightliner Columbia evsgwsa gera ageas I sent tho "owner" a text asking about it. Here is the first e-mail I got about it
Quote:
Hello there,
Glad you are one of the people interested in buying my Freightliner. I'm selling it because I'm serving in Offutt AFB, Nebraska but I was promoted and transferred to Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage Alaska for a 3 years period, so I don't need it anymore at this time. Let me give you a few details about it: very good shape, no mechanical issues,no scratches or dents and it has never been involved in any kind of accidents. Has only 327,868 miles, its manual, with an 12.7L L6 Diesel Detroit engine, red exterior and gray interior. Not interested in a trade and my final price is $6,500. I have a clear title, free of any liens or loans on it, under my name. Also, I've attached you some more pictures with the heavy truck in this email.
If you are interested in buying it or if you have any questions, please reply to this email.

Thanks,
CMSgt Linda G. Mayers
I then questioned where the tractor was since the ad says it is in Eveleth, Mn. and the phone number is from Tennessee, and she is in Nebraska. Here is the response to that
Quote:
I will do my best to walk you through the process. As I told you in my first email, I recently got promoted and transferred to Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage Alaska for 3 years. The heavy truck is located in Omaha, Nebraska, but I advertised it on other states also to get more exposure and sell it faster. The heavy truck is already at the shipping company, ready to be delivered to its future new owner. The deal is handled by eBay so I don't have much to do about it. Using eBay`s Buyer Protection Program, you get free delivery, at your place in 3 days. In addition, you get 5 days to try it out before buying it, and if you don't like it, you can send it back at my expense. If you wish to proceed just send me an email with your full name (for the bill of sale), a delivery address and a phone # where you can be reached and I will forward them to eBay and they will send you the invoice with all of the transaction details.

Thanks,
CMSgt Linda G. Mayers
I also googled the name on the side of the truck and the company is out of Missouri. They have ONE truck and do not even own any. Also the 'company' was started April of 2014. http://www.quicktransportsolutions.c...ot-2322196.php
Ya think it's legit??

Yep, whoda thunk it? A scam on craigslist?? I was thinking of toying with them, but I thought better of it. That would be one hell of a deal though.... a 2004 tractor with 327k miles for $6500..... In my dreams.....

I am an ebay power seller for my business with about 1000 transactions a year, and every single detail he mentioned about the ebay process is completely inaccurate and false. Got to be a scam. The seller does not "forward" anything to ebay, ebay does not send you an "invoice" and ebay's buyer protection program does not offer free shipping or free return. The seller never know's the buyers name until after the sale. Complete crap, don't bite.

I wonder how anyone could fall for the "free shipping and return" if you decide you don't like it plus having five days to make sure you like it? Someone must be quite desperate to believe that in my opinion.

HORSEHOCKEY!!! As Sherman Potter would say....... I don't know when I would be able to get a truck. I won't go into details, but some property my wife inherited is co-owned by four siblings. One filed bankruptcy and the trustee has threatened to confiscate the property (hard to sub-divide) unless the 1/4 of it involved in the bankruptcy is sold. In order to protect my assets I may have to try to buy that 1/4...... This has been a real PITA for about ten years already.

Aha, property divided amongst siblings. Yuck! Yuck! My wife's sister died and has created an "issue" regarding her lake home. Don't give up hope though. Just think how great it will be when you're cruising around the country enjoying that great truck of yours.

That's what I am hoping for. If the trustee will accept my offer then I shout be in better shape soon (I hope!). I keep dreaming about a newer truck than what I used to drive. The newest tractor I drove was a Freightliner conventional with an NTC400 13 speed. I think it may have been about a 1978 model year, but I can't remember. The creature comforts are way better in the newer trucks I'm sure.

Hey, I just ran across this truck on racingjunk: 2003 International HD Jeep Hauler & 5th Wheel Tow Vehicl for Sale in NASHVILLE, TN | RacingJunk Classifieds

I know the owner, very great stand-up guy. This truck is extremely well built. I'm sure he's got a bunch of pictures he could send you. You should call him and talk about it.

That looks like a real sweet set up! I need to see what my wife thinks of it. That is a great price too!

Yes, it's a extremely well built deck/body. I've seen it. No way you could replicate it for anywhere near that amount. That price is just for the truck, I think. I don't see that the Jeep and the 5ver come with it.

Ya, I figured it was just the truck, but it is still a heck of a deal.
We didn't get to buy the property, so now we are still waiting on a trustee to figure out what is going on. Then on other property, my sister figured out how to legally take possession of my mother's house..... Between the two properties and an attorney it cost my wife and I about $125,000 in lost revenue.
