Im still trying to figure out how he arrived at the price when he says -

Base Total ??? - 1.043m

he'd never get 319k for it let alone 444k (tractor+options) where he comes up w/ this BASE TOTAL is beyond me !

theres plenty wrong w/ it imo -
the REAR (king pin) deck - the FENDERS are not flush w/ the deck...
they rounded the counter top / bathroom sink...and then put a <square> drawer under the counter....look at the drawer corner sticking out

Legally, how long of a trailer could you have with this?

guy i bought my conversion from towed a 36 foot stacker - he was over 75 feet long <combined>

when i first looked at their add and saw those pictures, my first thought was,


1.4 million and they can't even get the pictures right.

Good catch on the sideways picture. That's how they can keep the asking price so low, they don't pay their tech guy very much.

The Surface Transportation Assistance Act of 1982 allows a 48' trailer with no overall length limit. In other words if you could figure out how its perfectly legal to pull a 48' trailer with a greyhound bus-but it has to be registered as a truck tractor.

if thats the case why do i see 52 and 54 foot TRAILERS being pulled by OTR Trucks ??

Thats easy-you don't see them with tractors that long.
I only quoted STAA which has no overall length limit so you could therefore use any length of tractor.
While there are 52' trailers only a relative handful exist. No such creature as a 54' trailer. The 53' trailers that you see do not conform to STAA and therefore there IS an overall length limit. 75'.
That Argosy is too long to be 75' overall when hooked to a 53' trailer.
Based on the picture alone I estimate overall length with a 53 would be somewhere between 85 and 90'. that makes it 15' overlength.
However if you use a 48' trailer instead there is no overall length limit and the length of the tractor no longer matters.
That said there is a guy in Wisconsin that pulls a 53' trailer with a REALLY loooooong Diamond Reo Giant that in no way shape or form even comes close to 75'. I believe he is somewhere around 93'. How he gets away with it without permits is beyond me.

Thats the one. Before he put the graphics on it. I think I like the plain version better. I once waited an extra hour after a truckshow just to watch that beastie turn a corner. I wanted to see if it could. Turns out it can. It will take up every square inch of the intersection doing it but it is possible. Maybe this year I'll get around to asking why 4 stacks. At least there are no dummy stacks. Both sets are functional. I point that out because some show trucks have stacks only for the look, the real exhaust is between the tanks, guess its easier to get the bugs off if they haven't been baked on:)

my bet is - based on all the electronics and ADVERTISING screens (on the slides) that the REAR stacks are for the generator.

in this picture - its tough to confirm - but it LOOKS like the mid axle is a STEER axle too, which would help it turn.

The generator hadn't been run at this show. The truck had been plugged in but the engine was running as they did final is everything put away checks. Then when the driver started going through the gears, slight haze out of all 4 stacks. The pusher axle does steer. Just like an Ohio dump truck. Castor steer by the way, not forced like a twin steer. It wouldn't work very well if it were a fixed axle. Mounted what, like 15' behind the steer if it didn't steer tire life would be very short. I don't even want to think about what it would do to the wheel bearings and mounts-for that matter the frame itself.

Where is this truck based? That is something else!

The customer says he originally paid $1.4 but has never used it or titled it.
