Two weekends ago I decided to finally install some insulating material I purchased from Bonded Logic back in January to insulate the cab. I saw the posts on insulating the hood of the truck here and figured I would start there since that is easy to access. Boy that made a big difference in noise on the outside and inside of the cab. Last weekend I got to test out the noise reduction during a weekend trip to Cooks Forest. Thankfully a buddy warned me about the road out of Clarion Pa., because it is not well marked until you hit one mother of a steep grade. I am so glad I put that exhaust brake on, with the truck in 6th, the brake held me back with just a few stabs at the brakes on the way down. I would have hated to run that hill with just the service brakes, I am not sure how much pedal you would have left at the bottom, which had a 90 degree curve and then over a bridge at the bottom.

We had ton's of rubber necker's all weekend, but thankfully no walk throughs. It rained hard Friday night and the place was turning into a mud pit. On the way out we had 2 groups of people waiting at the exit to check out the rig in motion, I was starting to feel like I was important. https://www.truckhome.com/infopop/emo...on_biggrin.gif

Bonded Logic? How much $$ was it? Mine will be a real chore there is a air intake cowl under mine hood. Did you put it anywhere else? I was hoping to have some left over for the area above the transmission.

I got it from Camping World for $36 for a 4' x 6' roll, comes with spray adhesive and foil tape for edges and seams. It took 2 rolls for my hood. I just ordered 2 more rolls, one for the floor above the trannie and one for the generator bay. I was really amazed at how much quieter it was in the cab.

I used the same material to line the generator compartment to reduce noise and repel heat.

If you need more of the foil tape, Home Depot carries it.

https://www.truckhome.com/infopop/emo...icon_frown.gif The ditz that takes orders charged me CWs cost...then calls back an hour later to tell me she screwed up and I have to pay $39 ea. I told I'd pay $36 ea. she agreed. Oh well...women https://www.truckhome.com/infopop/emo...n_rolleyes.gif

I got both kits installed today. One under the hood and the other around and above the generator. It was an easy job with noticeable results! Above the tranny I sprayed a heavy dose of undercoat.

.....One interesting issue here I was told that the whole cab and the extension was air ride still .... it was not converted to rubber mounts-just adding more air ride bags under the extension....the ower quoted me around $60K depending on options...he has trucks in stock to do the mods to....I think he is in Mn?.......it is something different to look at and decide on how you all want yours to be designed....I got a trailer design form a company in Ok that meets my design specs just buy accident Friday...the originional quote was $25 but I can get it done for far less by using locals and his design....maybe as much as 50% less.....I'll look into it Monday....geof

Hmm. Google found nothing, which why I had to ask.

Patrick 10-19-2003 02:33 PM

If you click "pictures" on their web they have picks of a motorhome they did. It looks...well..primitive at best. The flaming KW is cool though! Is it me or do the rear windows look weird 4" from the corner?
