Default 50 foot +/- RV

I have noticed some of the RVs for sale lately exceed 50 feet in lenght. Most if not all of the state set overall lenght limit at 45 feet. How do these RV get by driving on the highway? Does owner just pay ticket and move on to next state?

A few years ago I was talking to Ralph Dickenson, founder of Kingsley Coach. He said most of his customers didn't care. He said one of them got stopped a couple times because he had a 50+ footer and pulled a stacker trailer. He didn't think he ever got tagged though. He said if you invite the cop in to check it out they won't tag you. Cheese and crackers, and a soda might help too.

Thanks for the reply, I love the Kingsley Coach with the twin chrome stacks. Was looking at one on eBay 52 feet and found another 55 feet.

Here's a picture of it, it's for sale:

Kingsley Coach went out of business I think a bit before the market crash. Ralph sells rigs in MN now here: Buses For Sale at BusesAndMore.com - Buy Buses and Sell Buses .

I've looked that Sanders over pretty close. It is too elegant for my tastes. Pretty cool though. Lots of electronics. I'd like the stacker trailer but it doesn't match my truck. I think if somebody wanted something like that they'd be able to score a pretty good deal on it. I can't remember what numbers Ralph was tossing out but they weren't that high for such a rig. I tried to buy that Showhauler on his site but we couldn't agree on a price.

I have seen picture of the one above before. On eBay was one that was 52' in lenght, also a WalMart Ex rig. It had my interest but did not know about details of excess lenght concerns. Plus it was an auto and nice rig.

We will just keep this information away from dw otherwise she will want to go shopping.
46 is long enough for me with towing a suburban.

Your truck is nicer, Ed. And there's no grooming room in the back of that Kingsley. But, the Jacuzi would be nice for the dogs to unwind after a show. Hhhhmmmmm. You better get a Jacuzi in your truck.

Yes Ed, sorry I didn't make it to see you in Lake Elmo last summer. Hopefully I'll see ya this summer. You should come to the hdt rally in October. We can caravan from St. Paul.
