Terminology Question
 

Hi all, hope everyone has had a good summer and spent lots of time climbing around your Rigs.....we are getting ready to head for SC, Myrtle Beach. Last time I visited Freightliner I was told to watch the rear end, it was sweating a little, so on this road trip I want to stop in at Freightliner and have it checked out (warranty work), now for my question, I have a garage unit that carries my Smart Car, prior to loading or unloading I dump the air, this lowers the rear end several inches reducing the angle of the ramp making it easier. While climbing around underneath I have noticed the two large SHOCKS, CYLINDERS that make the up and down happen, it looks like one is angled differently or cocked, I think there may be a SLIGHT list, not sure. When I call to make the appointment, what are those CYLINDERS, SHOCKS, technically called, I like to use the proper language when describing my concerns, thanks, Gene.....

airbags ??

These are all metal and rubber, about 14" in diameter and 10" or so tall, G

photos would be helpful to positively identify the items in question.

I just poked around online, definately some kind of AIRBAG, just not sure what kind....Thanks again.

Gene, definatly sounds like you are refering to the air bags for your suspension, usually connected to a switch or lever that increases the pressure as more weight is added keeping the ride height the same. Not sure about freightliner but on most trucks the bags are vertical, and usually two per axle. Let them know you have a concern with one of your rear airbags, and I am sure they will understand. Checked out your blog, nice looking rig, hoping to see one like that in my driveway one day, with a Harley instead of the smart though. Do like the matching paint on the car, nice touch. Thanks Dave, yea the Harley sounds great, we have a Triumph Bonneville T 100, it will sit on a carrier that slides into the trailer hitch. I found a special edition paint job that Triumph had, Chocolate and Cream, matches the Rig pretty well.....G
