Pros and cons of this rig
 

We have seen this rig on Craigslist for a while, it is a lot further than we want to go just to take a look, after all we just got back last weekend from a 12 hour straight drive to look at a rig up in Wisconsin, it was a good deal but it was not for us.
The problem is we are not really sure as to what is a good setup and what is not. We do not see our selves always being on a perfectly paved road, or staying in fancy parks, mor the like we will be boondocking or pulling into older parks that allow folks like us in! walmart parking lots and what ever.
This is 40 ft long, we looked at a Blue Bird Wanderlodge last weekend and decided it's ground clearance and length and the way it bounces along down the road was not to our liking and came back to thinking HDT.
I have not called these people yet, well I did but got their machine so will cal later, if it seems decent I will see about hiring some one with knowledge to look at her before we make the trip or decide against her.
I guess everyone's opinion here would really be appreciated.
I kind of worry about the length and the length of the overhang, and I cannot really see how you can toe anything.

Not really sure if I would feel comfortable with that setup. The main manufacturers(Renegade, Showhauler, NRC and others have tried and true systems in place for framing, fastening etc.....I would want to know ALOT more info about this build.....who built, how was it built....as far as off the Beaten path most of our Truck Conversions are really not set up for that , you really need to look at Earthroamer, Tiger, or GXV......for that . Also Bonndocking will require many upgrades, Panels, Batteries, inverters and so on....Good luck keep us posted....

it looks like a travel trailer was stuck onto the deck of a flatbed....and whoa way to integrate the original cab/sleeper fairing into the trailer <not> !

personally i dont like the idea of a propane generator & whats the "on demand engine generator" ? does the truck have an APU ?

is there storage in the basement, i cant tell...the door lines are all over the place.

If i remember correctly LondonAir (owned by Newmar) made motorhomes, don't think they made any trailers. I would guess that someone cut the front end off the coach and set it on top of the tractor frame. you can see where the original wheel well of the coach was filled in, and the original "basement" storage just above where the new skirting was installed.

quite possible that coach had a damaged front end and was picked up a salvage to be installed on the tractor.

biggest issue is standard rv's are not made to withstand being on a truck frame.

Kind of a neat looking setup. I looked at a Kingsley built on a T600. Hated the cab setup. Those T600 (and I'm guessing the T400) have a very narrow width. Not roomy at all.

I think you're doing great research. Have you checked Eldorado Trailer Sales in Wisconsin? Or Westside Motorcoach in Illinois? They both usually have a pretty good selection of rigs.

Don't go by looks (you know the whole book by it's cover thing)
I happen to like the look of the vehicle. With the healthy overhang It will have bit more tail swing however it should turn quite tight and be easy to maneuver it you watch that tail. And a trailer will if not too long almost follow in the rear tires tracks.
