Optima Slide Repair

I have a 2006 Optima coach. They are out of business. My slide mechanism is worn out and needs to be replaced/rebuilt. Located in Nashville. Any suggestions?

Can you determine who actually made the slideout? Then you might be able to locate a service place. Or at least contact the company that made it to see if they can fix it.

I found an Optima coach for sale on RV Trader. Looks like it's got an HWH slide on it. They're still in business in Iowa. I had HWH leveling jacks on my previous motorhome and they were good about rebuilding one I sent to them that was leaking.

Is the motor in-op? If so they are available and very easy to replace and there are several YouTube videos on doing it. Not much else in the slide mechanism to wear out.

This happened to our neighbors in Baja. The motor burnt after the arms bent. The whole mechanism was a toss. So...

We rigged a platform on a forklift to remove the slide-room as a unit.
We inverted the whole darn slide-room for access to the underside.
We glued a section of Corian-type cabinet veneer to the exposed plywood.
We bolted pull-handles to the side of the room.
We un-inverted the room, and slid it back in place.

The slick surface of the synthetic veneer moves easily across the carpet... no motor needed.

What sort of setup did you use to lock it in and out?

And how come it doesn't twist and tilt when pushing in/out? What kind of slide is it?
