Fuse block

This sounds crazy, but even the guys at International don't know where to find the fuse block on my cabover.....nobody old enough to remember them.

I have tried all the usual places, kick panels, under dash, under cab...suggestions?

It may not have actual fuses, all I could find on my Topkick is a panel of circuit breakers under the dash on the passenger side, labeled with all the usual things you would expect to find fuses for, lights, etc. Never did find fuses.

Hot Rod, my 2001 Topkick has like you mentioned resettable breakers lower left of the steering wheel, and a set of relays accessible by pulling the glove box out and then a bank of big breakers under the hood in front of the windshield. Good luck figuring out who controls what though. I'll never own another GMC product EVER!

look at the center of the dash, some old trucks you pulled a 1 foot by 1 foot section of the dash, switches and all out by removing 4 screws to reveal as many fuses as you wish to replace.

I just remember that from when I was a kid helping dad, no idea what trucks those were, but it sounds like it could be yours.

good luck and report back

i thought the top panel above parking brake knobs opened and they were under there.
can you call the old owner and ask him?

take a box of donuts to the local truck stop, watch for a truck like yours to roll in, offer the guy your donuts in exchange for a tour, or keep your eyes open while driving and pull into a truck dealership or yard with one. most guys would be more than happy to show you.

talked to another shop today. he said he thought there was 4 thumb screws on center dash panel and they where there.

We have a winner...found a grey haired International mechanic and he confirmed remove screws on either side of the dash and the panel on top comes off.

Tried the previous owner...no luck

I guess the previous owner was lucky he never blew a fuse. lol. Good thing you are doing the research now instead of the side of the road, seeing as it took you weeks to find that answer.

At this point I have also purchased the owners manual and electrical manual...only available from Binder Books.
