FLD 120 Dash valve
 

I need to get the MV2 parking brake valve out of my 1989 FLD 120. The valve is bigger that the hole in the dash. Does anyone know how to remove the brake valve for service?

You have to remove a large panel area. Unscrew the knobs from the valve.

Safety Precautions: Ensure the truck is safely parked with the parking brake engaged, and the engine is turned off.

Disconnect the Air Lines: Locate the MV2 parking brake valve, which is usually mounted on the dashboard or in the cab. The valve typically has several air lines connected to it. Carefully label or take a picture of the air line connections to remember their placement. Use appropriate tools to disconnect the air lines.

Remove Mounting Bolts: The MV2 valve is usually mounted to the dashboard or a bracket. Locate the mounting bolts or screws securing the valve in place, and remove them. Keep the hardware for reinstallation.

Disconnect Linkages: In some cases, there may be linkages or control rods connected to the valve. These should be disconnected as well.

Slide Out the Valve: Carefully slide the MV2 valve out of its mounting location. You may need to wiggle it to free it from any tight spots or brackets. Be cautious not to damage any surrounding components.

Service or Replace the Valve: Once the valve is removed, you can service or replace it as needed. If you're servicing the valve, follow the specific maintenance instructions provided in your truck's service manual.

Reinstallation: To reinstall the MV2 valve, reverse the removal steps. Make sure all air lines are properly reconnected and tightened. Secure the valve in its mounting location using the original hardware.

Testing: After installation, thoroughly test the parking brake system to ensure it's functioning correctly. Check for air leaks and ensure that the valve operates as expected.
