Default B plates to RV plates for my Jeep gladiator

Hi, I’m about to purchase a 2020 Jeep gladiator and would like to know how I go about purchasing RV plates. The dealer said they can only issue B-truck plates.

I would think it would have to have the necessary items installed to qualify as an RV? Things like heating/ac separate from the engine, potable water supply, propane, toilet, etc.... It varies from state to state. Pretty sure there's no way you're going to be able to get RV plates on it. Why do you want RV plates for it?

Thanks. Bought it for city driving and to haul our ebikes around in. There’s a lot of streets in the city a B plate truck are not allowed and you can even be ticketed for leaving it over night. I thought there was a recreational vehicle plate that I could apply for?

Aha, I see. Maybe there is some other option? What state are you in? When I bought my conversion van the state tried to force weighted truck plates on me because it's on a 3500 (1 ton) chassis. I really didn't want truck plates on it because then I couldn't drive it on parkways. Also truck plates are quite a bit more expensive in MN. I found a section of the law that said 1 ton chassis vans don't have to have truck/weighted plates if they're passenger vans. Only the cargo vans. I surprised the person at the DMV with that info. Maybe you'll get lucky with your Gladiator? Do all p/u trucks in your state need B plates?

Can you not register it as a standard pick up truck?
