Why does this one have 2 rear axles instead of one? What's the difference?

It would only be to enable the pulling of the biggest trailer possible, which would possibly tax a single axle(though probably not). The ride WILL be rougher due to the fact that the capacity over these axles would be double that over the single axle, even if air suspension is used. Other than all that, your guess is as good as mine.....

You are correct in that the dual rear wheels are for greater load capacity, but you are mistaken in the ride quality comment.

The dual rear Motorhomes ride down the road very nicely, and smooth. Not to mention they tend to sway less when hit by crosswinds.

Well, we got it from the horses mouth (Wild01).

When I talked to them few month ago I was also told, its cheaper to keep then to remove the second axle and gives you more traction when off-road.

That is just like my Mack with twin screws. Mine rides very nice, even off road and gets great traction. Much better ride and traction then my buddies with their pushers.

The only real downside I see is you could be using that room for storage.
