Moving the axles back and then adding onto the rear is the best. Any joint you have before the axles is a place to crack and break. The back is just along for the ride and is not subject to torque...

What is your current rear suspension. Where I live it is usually easiest to buy a cut off and do the stretch with that. You can get air ride and the gears you want for less then 3K
