Too much caster in a HDT conversion will make the steering feel >/?????

I'm not sure what you're getting at- regardless, too much caster will increase steering effort, but will also make it MORE self-correcting coming out of a turn.

Hey T, What is the Air psi in the steer tires?? How old are they?? How many miles on them?? Have they been High Speed Balanced?? Could also not be a matched set. I have had steer tires that were out of round also. Do you have any kind of independent wheel balancing rim weight on the inside seperate of the rim that goes on the wheel lugs before the wheel & tire go on??

gary, not stealing your reply, but excess caster can cause the steering to "feel" heavier, air pressure in the tire can also, yep been said, cause the same thing. i suggest goin' back, if possible to where you were before you noticed this, if in fact, this, is
"heavy" what you're sayin', askin'????? clear????---- mase

No problem Mase- I wasn't sure I made myself clear enough on that, but like you said, the steering will feel heavier, due to it "trying" to straighten out during any steering action. Maybe between all of us, we got it right! ;-)

Steer tires Sumitomo > 10 kmi perfectly round ( I own a tire lathe) and perfectly balanced 105psi

Just had king pins done , this makes the whole front NEW , everything !
I liked it better with the old king pins !
I think they put some leed in the RF and took .8 degrees caster out now they are both even , & I usually like a caster split to compensate for road crown !

I may be chasing a tite pin ? but the main problem is BUMP steer (i think)
The frame shop wants to try another new steering box & I dont believe it has anything to do with the problem !
AS my components have been renewed the bump steer has increased (everything is tighter )this makes sence but I still have to correct the problem! t

fastlap, i don't know your level of experience------- so i'm sure not talkin' down to you, ok? go to google and tpye in bump-steer, there are a bunch of links on how to identify and correct bump-steer. hope you find the problem, it seems to me that the box could help because now things from the road surface back toward the wheels are in better condition. best of luck in finding your p'bm. --- mase

Vavoppa , the box is new already along with each and every component from the steering wheel to the tires , (and yes I mean everything !) except the actual I beam !
My level of experience ?? not enough to cure this problem yet, but either can TRW !
