Fuel Mileage

Silvero8:

I am regularly getting 10.6 mpg average; 60 mph on the highway and some around town driving. I run at 1200 rpm, and thinking somwday of changing the rear from 3.56 to 3.36 to improve the fuel mileage just a bit more.

We'll see . . .

My truck conversion weighs about 28k lbs. In May I took a 4800 mile trip from MN to CA and back. Kept my cruise speed 72-74 mph. Overall I got 9.8 mpg. Best tank was 11.3. Worst tank was 8.4.

Just another note. There's no real governing body but the term "toter" has come to mean a truck with smaller/medium size living quarters and a deck on the back for a fifth wheel hitch or goose neck. "Truck conversion" seems to refer to a truck with full length box for living quarters. Tben there are "garage coache's" that are a truck conversion with a garage in back.

Im 30k (loaded pretty good) and the best ive seen (cruise set at 72mph) was 9.9

Going thru the mountains of Tennessee and southern Virginia i saw as low as 8.2, admittedly i was a bit heavy footed (damm i-81 and left lane bandits).

I should also say, Im a single screw, MBE4000 450hp, 12speed autoshift, columbia
