14' Toter with stacked living space
Hi everyone. I'm in love with the design Twins Custom Coaches has for their toters.
Twins Custom Coaches 35' I think it's a very efficient use of space to keep the length at a minimum. However, the "bedroom" could get a bit claustrophobic after a while. I'm currently drawing up my own version of this and basing it on their plans. Does anyone see any drawbacks to this? Questions, comments? I know I probably couldn't find a Freightliner Argosy, and what a good looking truck it is, so I'd probably settle with a Volvo daycab type truck. This would also allow an over-cab bunk. Thanks! |
After you get the truck built, what are you going to tow?

You mean IF I were to build the truck? I haven't thought that far ahead! The ideal (and most rational), for me, would be to have a 5th wheel RV behind a 780. Whole rig for long journeys, truck for day trips/overnights/weekends.
But that toter is cool! I guess if I were to build a toter like that I'd haul a shorter 5th RV with a garage in back. The truck wouldn't allow a car on the back, and it's length wouldn't permit a long RV. Just daydreaming! |
just a thought how do you service the engine?

That's why I'd probably use a Volvo daycab or sleeper cab since the Argosy's aren't sold in the US anymore so. It would add to the overall length but there are trade offs. |
Nick, I spent a bunch of time looking at the Twins design,
My line of thought would be to just skip modding the toter, build a 4 seat Argosy/sleeper unit that would still flip forward for service, and add a neat bed with a built in generator and bonus fresh water tanks. then spend all the cool design features into a 53' multi level trailer with a garage in the back, and a roof patio. I just think by the time you had the truck all converted, you'd have so much invested in it, that if you ever wanted to upgrade powerplants you'd really be stuck. With a super trailer, You can always find a different truck to tow it. I'd even have a forward slide that once parked you could make the trailer even longer. spiral staircase, 4 side slides, all kinds of cool. or start with a Pusher Tour Bus and convert that into something wild. -blizz |
