We had to put down my great friend, Goldie the Wonder Poodle, a couple weeks ago. She got a rare disease. 8 years of great companionship. She just loved going in the rv. We brought a new companion into our family two nights ago.

He's a miniature poodle, should get to be about 10-12 lbs. Buck seemed to be a fitting name so that's it. More pictures here: https://www.facebook.com/album....065462&id=1075779581

Bob Congrats on your new buddy, sorry for the loss of your old friend, heaven is the place that all pets go.Gene

Sorry to hear about Goldie. bummer good friends are hard to find and our pets seem to love us even when I forget to feed them before bed.

Enjoy Buck, growing up my mom always had miniature poodles around. I always felt bad for the male ones after she'd bring them home from the groomers with red ribbons in his hair.

Hey Bob so sorry for your loss. It is never easy losing a great friend. I have had to say good bye to more buds than I care to recall but I have been lucky, I always was able to hug them and say good bye before they past. I am always thankful for that. Spoil the heck out of Buck.

Thanks guys, Buck is doing great so far. I'm sure he'll be wonderful. My brother, a veterinarian, believes there are no bad dogs. I guess I go along with that since all my dogs have been great in their own ways.

Hey Bob,
I have now felt the same pain as you with Goldie. Last Thursday I had to say good bye to my 7 yr old Newfoundland JR. He was my very first show dog and when I retired him from showing he became a therapy dog vistiting the nursing homes and the kids at the hospital. I was able to say a final good bye. My pain is double duty because he loved the motorhome and always wanted to be in it. We left for a dog show on Thursday after he was gone and missed him being with us and now we are home and have to go thru that process again. JR as a will be missed for he was always giving.
It is helping to have my other dogs here to help with the process of moving forward. But his will be forever in our hearts.

".....would one rather loose a good dog or....( what?)?.....hummmm one of those decisions"....When faced with these decisions that we and others have to make in their lives.....my mom used to say "at least is isn't/wasn't a child"......which brings things into perspective for me. I sure miss my coon hounds----specially when things get a little tight for me.....prayer can/will help but there wasn't anything like a cold nose and a warm dog to make life's issues easier to manage......'course there is a very small dog that lives with us now and I keep trying to befriend her....but it isn't the same as a 80 # coon hound...........geofkaye and the Rivercity Girls....[and Tinkerbell the bug catcher......]

Best Friends

Most of my very best friends throughout the years have been dogs! They pay constant attention, do whatever they can to please you, and never ask much in return.

Hope your new friends fills the void, and becomes everything your "old friend" was.

Congrats!

Thanks OPie, I forgot about this thread. Buck has turned out to be an amazing dog. He's just great. Loves everything about life. He's a runner like no other. 6 miles and he's not even tired. He loves the water and swims right in at the lake. He's great with people and other dogs. And he even has prematurely gray hair, just like me. I just finished training him with the invisible fence and he's smart as heck. When to California in May often we'd ride our bicycles to various areas and Buck was a great backpack rider. And he loves the truck conversion.

He looks a little concerned that we're going over 70 mph passing another semi and I'm taking his picture. Hahahaahahaha.

Here we are with Eric Heiden, 5 time Olympic gold medalist speed skater and old friend of MrsBob86ZZ4. Also team doctor for BMC Cycling Team.
