I am looking to convert my current exhaust tail pipe to a rectangular pipe that will leave me with more curb clearance. I thought that someone had done one on here before. Anybody know of a manufacturer?

Thanks
Wick

Any room to cut a notch (a round one of course) in the side skirt just ahead of the rear wheel? Then you would have all the room you need. Otherwise, the main concern of a rectangular tip, as I'm sure you already know, is to make sure that you make it at least as large in area as the pipe going into it, or even larger. Backpressure is your enemy here. In a turbocharged Diesel you want NONE of it.

wick, i just looked at the l.s. pic's of your rig---- um--- , a rectangular out let under your bay just in front of the tandem you would have to put a NASCAR, heavens forbid, long length wise-- short height wise out let. you would have to have it custom made, -- isn't everything-- because you would be going from round back inside the basement to rectangular under the bay. but yes, i think it'd work great not to mention soooooo coooool.--- guess you know by now i ain't right. 2" by 10"-- 1 1/2" by 12", seems to me some of the old passenger buses grey hounds etc were that way--- just a thought-- mase

How about something like this:

....If you ever get to Covington Kentucky and have time go to Smith's Custom Exhaust just off I-75 north on the uphill side-last exit before the river ....get off and go three blocks east....anyway his son will build anything you want out of SS any shape or size and real quick....I don't go anywhere else for exhaust work....Borla and some of the others are crazy expensive for what you get and you have to put it on yourself or pay to have it done....half the time it is bent in shipping.....geofkaye

Funny when you are looking hard for something you just can't seem to find it.......After I stopped looking for my "square exhaust" a friend of mine about 12 miles away called me about the new exhaust he had just done on his Show Hauler. And there it is...
What are your thoughts about how it looks?

Outstanding and very attractive. Who made it?

Wick 11-23-2005 04:02 PM

My friend made it himself. We are going to try to make one for mine this weekend.

......I assume it is just rectangular tube added on to the end of the round pipe?.......geofkaye....however, It looks really good!

Geof,
The main part is just as you say, apiece of tube with the other end capped off and a round 5 inch pipe welded in it. He put mounting brackets on the tube to bolt it under the compartment and then he took a flat piece of stainless for the last 3 inches of it and wrapped it around the tube. Then welded it on a slight downward angle.

.....you got to admit:.....custom work like that is what makes your coach special...the uniqueness of a custom build/aftermarket all on, is what makes a conversion stand out in the crowd of manufactured trailers and tin conversions.....the truck looks spectacular!.....geofkaye
