I have searched the internet and have found conflicting info. I have seen info stating the total length must be under 60 feet but I know of a number of toter/trailer conversions over this length. Since I have a new moterhome I need to know if I have to get a new trailer also.
Any one know the correct info or where I can find out. I am going to try my local DMV but they are always busy and I am not sure if they will be much help. MAC |
mac, the rand mcnally motor carriers' road atlas has the overall lengths and where they are applicable. hope this helps---- mase

Thanks,
I have seen a similar site and it goes with the numbers I have seen. It does seem like there are a number of toters out there over this limit. I take it this is not closely watched. Thanks again MAC |
If I had to guess I'd say you're more likely to be in trouble in a toterhome/gooseneck rig than in an RV/tag trailer combo just because the DOT are going to look more at a rig that is an obvious race rig or potential commerical rig. I know 2 racers that have had issues and one vendor, the vendor had to go to a cdl (of course) but the racers are fine. The DOT peeps were a little lost on the whole idea of amateur hobby racers with rather large lettered rigs but figured it out. None have been pulled over anywhere for length of their rig.
