Tires: Example When to Replace (w/ Pics)

This (brown) Haulmark Coach has been sitting at the Camping World in Winchester, Virginia since mid-August (or longer).

If anyone know's the owner....tell 'em to replace those (8) rear tires....

Those are nasty for sure.
Just replaced my 9 year old 66000 mile Michelin-no checks or cracks, interior looks good but not worth the chance.
Installed 8 new Michelin XDN2's-looks good. Hopefully get as good as service with these as the previous ones.

the cracking is all over the tire, not just limited to one area (lettering)....and all FOUR (outside) tires were like this....

it is easily the worst I've ever seen.

Yikes! That could be disastrous.

Maybe it's for sale? Dealer doesn't want to replace them until they get a buyer?

its not for sale.

maybe he had it brought in on a roll back and the tires just magically got this way over night

the tires match the over all "care" provided to this coach.

Yep, that's what Michellin's do. Their rubber compound just can't take the UV but still the best tire out there. I've seen several rigs with tires like that and it happened to the Mich's on our pickup after about 7 years in the sun. Leave them a note and tell them to get a FMCA membership and go buy a new set with the Michellin/FMCA discount. :)

Those Michelin's are old (XZE), not even XZE II's.
The front michelin steer tires didn't have any sign of fracturing - but i didn't check the dates on any of 'em either.

I've got Michelin in the Steer Position and haven't seen any problems - on the other hand the Good Years that were replaced had vertical fracturing on 'em.....the Good Years on the rear/drive were 8 years old and had no sign of fracturing.

I use 303 Aero Protectant on all my tires
