Slide toppers?

Ok, i got no joy out of you guys on my headlight inquiry, so I'll try slide toppers. The toppers on my Renegade are getting a bit long in the tooth. I'd like to replace them this winter with whatever Renegade is putting on their new units.

I am reaching out to you guys in an attempt to save Woody one more phone call. Does anybody know what brand/model of slide toppers Renegade is using now? Anyone have experience replacing/upgrading their slide toppers? Thanks!

My '16 Verona uses Carefree toppers. There are several places on the internet where you can buy replacement toppers in a variety of materials and colors. Youtube has some great videos on how to do it.

I replaced the slide awning canvas on my pusher. It took a couple hours by myself. Not a bad job and the cost was around $150 if I remember correctly. I think I bought my canvas off Ebay.

I have had to shim my slide out awing bracket, it's alum, and after all these years I guess I should expect it. So when I do need to replace my slide awing, I'll need the thing. Story: So we were in West Tn, over nighted in a Walmart. I put the slide out some for us and the new dog.... When I tryed to retract it, just about fell off the RV, Damn, just so happen a Lowes was next door, so I buy larger stainless lag bolts, had the caulking and a ladder, I am out in the lot with the RV so one one could really see me working. Fix the problem, I later at home but a large alum shim between both ends and the rv to get me out some from the slide top. So far so good, And I took the ladder back at my local Lowes and got my money back, I own about 8 ladders at home.....

I want to go with the "cartridge" styled topper like the Carefree Ascent. I think it will give the truck a cleaner look. I only have two slides, but both of the toppers are sort of limping along.

I figure if I switch them to Ascents, I'll have a pretty good match when/if I switch out the main awning for a cartridge style that doesn't have the arms bolted to the sides of the rig. Like the Carefree Mirage.

They are nice looking awnings!

I think they will clean up the look of the exterior a bit. I may need a some fiberglass repair afterwards to fill the old mounting holes.

I chickened out and just had a new (non-cartridge) Dometic awning installed on the main slide only. That complete upgrade will have to wait.

I had a small slide out in my old renegade and took it the local camper fixer. They ordered the new fabric and replaced it for around $130 with tax.

Unfortunately, the "hub" mechanism on mine was damaged and no longer holding the shaft in the center of the roll. The aluminum cover had also worn through the topper in two places.

Hey Petrel,
Did you buy the whole thing? I got a price for one just this week, everything new, for 13' slide out. here is the quote I got. Here is a parts price breakdown for the slide topper you requested..

Topper: $606.00 +tax

Hardware: $77.00 +tax

Shipping: $100.00

Parts Total: $830.81

This is a place in Chattanooga tn, and I would go get it, I priced from PPL and it would have freight from Texas to Tennessee on top of what every they would charge.

$624.00 for slide and parts
$372.00 installation
$49.83 misc BS charge.
$35.71 tax
$1081.54 total

I guess it kept me from spending an afternoon on the ladder.
