Alright, got the rear wheel seal done yesterday, went to Campbell freightliner in Newburgh NY, nice guys, nice place, spent the whole day there. The wheel seal was covered under the warranty, the PM service however cost me $578 out the door (OUCH). This Oct i will be attending Camp Freightliner in Gafney South Carolina, after the two day training, all future PM service will be done by yours truly.......G

Wow, what did that PM service include? I got an oil change, fuel filter, clutch freeplay check, grease all chassis points, and check brake slack, done by the local Kenworth dealer. It was $229 out the door, parts and labor. They found a newly weeping axle seal at the time and fixed that too. I think that was about $300 but can't remember for sure. My truck had been sitting on the dealer's lot for almost 1.5 years before I bought it so he said that might have caused that seal to start leaking when I drove it home 250 miles.

Just another example of NY thievery, this was a Freightliner shop with established prices posted, o well, G

I've got to check out that Camp Freightliner. I like to do my own wrenching but don't know much about the truck chassis.

I just googled it. Looks like it's more tailored to the class A chassis, isn't it? I don't know.

Bob, i checked into it, the class is small and they gear the training toward the types of Rigs that are there, I am signed up for the Oct 15th training, the wife is even taking the class with me. Everyone who has taken it raves about the knowledge and info they took away with them, G

Good, I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes then. A friend of mine is a truck mechanic. He showed me a couple tools that he said I should buy. One is a big fork like thing that he said you put up into the clutch area and it measures the clutch fork clearance or something. The other was a small metal thing that he uses to check the slack adjusters on the brakes. Maybe they'll show you stuff like that.
