Found this sliding floor panel that covers the stairwell so you don't fall into it.

Picture of it open

Picture of it closed

What do you folks think of the idea of a sliding stairwell closure?

I like the idea of a sliding panel. Sort of cool.

It came from an Eagle bus conversion that's on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Converted-Bus-Silver-Eag...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It is in most all front entry pusher.

Show Hauler gives you a cover you can put over the "pit" but I have never used it and don't keep it with me.

If it was a slider like that I may use it, but not a big issue with our floorplan.

My stairwell is between the fridge and the pantry so the cover stays stashed under the couch. Can't really ever see using it given the layout I have.
