Coach in the Making Two - Putting ideas together

Well my 2003 Show Hauler was sold today and in a way I am sad and relieved all at the same time. It was a incredible rig and who ever got it, got one hell of a deal and a awesome coach. But it is exciting to now get started on the new one. For those that have not read some of the other threads here, we are looking to build a more RV / campground friendly conversion.

We are going to us a 2005 Freight liner M2-106 chassis with Mercedes MBE 926 engine and Allison Automatic. Nathan at Beck's will be sending me specs on the chassis early next week and I will post them on the site.



The motorhome box will be a Show Hauler 28'



Next week I will list the options, interior colors, and other odds & ends. We have a trip to Chicago planned at the end of the month and will stop in and see Lonnie at Show Hauler to go over the details and make sure this floor plan will work.

Looks like you're gonna have one fine rig, Bill. From what I understand the M2-106 will turn on a dime and return .09! A 55deg. wheelcut does things like that.
BTW, how many horsepuppies did you specify for your MBE926? Some guys I know around here tell me the 900 series is blessed with a lot of low-end grunt.
Yeah, it's sad to see a rig, in which many good times were had, go out of your lives, but the new one is gonna be SOOOOO COOOOOL!

I fully expect nothing less than a full demonstration of earth-shaking, cutting-edge conversion technology, 'cause Bill is THAT kinda guy, and it's the absolute LEAST he could do. Right Bill? Bill????

bill, i've got a question?-- in our coach we used a movable table and a recliner instead of the dinnette. by using that we were able to put a wardrobe in the hall between the bedroom and the kitchen. ---- is that some you might be interested in?--- let me know-- the moveable table came from camping world -- we reduced the height to equal the sofa arm height --after 17,00 miles it's still a workable idea- as it gives my lady a place to hang her dresses and her shirts as well as on the short side we have 6 drawers.---- mase

I dont think we need anymore hanging space. That wardrobe slide in the bedroom will have 2 full length closets on each end of the slide with 2 rows of draws in between. The bathroom also has 2 hanging closets with one on top of the other (one for each kid). No I want that dinette with no one sleeping on and it always setup. I am always the first one up and I like to sit down at the dinette with my coffee and the laptop to get the day going.

Geof & Gary - If you are talking the 007 stuff going into this rig, well that is top secret.

Well Geof, I guess we've been told; as if that would put an end to our rabid curiosity. That's OK. I was looking at your new floorplan and there is something you might want to think about. It may not seem like that big a deal but in certain situations it might be a problem.

Look at the direction and position of the toilet. If you ever suffer a knee problem, especially something like a torn ACL, you need the toilet in a position so that you can sit on it with your leg fully extended. With a torn ACL or similar problems that reguire knee surgery it can be weeks, even a few months, before you can bend your knee.

I went through five manufacturers of truck conversions in the Elkhart area, including Showhauler, in May. I loked at a lot of floorplans. The best solution I saw, without taking up any extra floorspace, was to face the toilet towards the door. Then if necessary the door can be left open so that your leg can be kept straight.

My son tore his ACL and after watching the problems that he had with basic everyday things, because he could not bend his knee, it made me much more aware of this kind of thing.
