Text says: The tractor was a Phoenix Airport Fuel truck and never left the tarmac (this is why it has so few miles). It was professionally maintained by the airport. Tank was replaced with the rear end of a Volvo Donor whose front end was totaled in an accident.

It's starting to sound like the Johnny Cash song, "One piece at a time" where he works on an auto assembly line and over a period of years he secretly removes car parts and eventually puts them all together building one car. There is a video on the song. It's a great video and song. Sort of goes like this: "Well, It's a '49, '50, '51, '52, '53, '54, '55, '56

You should be able to download a audio clip of it. Whats your thoughts on that conversion? Is it even considered one? I see several drawbacks.

That 18,000 lb front axle would be another reason it would have so few miles. that has got to be rough.

Are Ebay buyers insane? They have that up to $65,000 !

Dang I have seen way better on for that kind of money.

It would make a nice car hauler...

I think it just has a sleeper couch in it. No toilet, shower, kitchen...

......miles low- ok!....but how about hours ideling or pto driven fuel pumping?.....when MAXX[my cadaver dog] and I were at the CVG I never shut off the VW....it's on high Idle all the time we are there.....many hours on the engine that does not show on the speedo.......geofkaye

foundation for a full blown conversion. It did have a few drawbacks IMO. The motor would have made a great Boat anchor,I never liked DD after owning one just like it. Couldn't pull a fat lady out of a donut shop. Although it was a Allison automatic it was a older 400 series. My estimate was $15,000.00 for good rebuild Big Block Cat or Cummins and a newer rebuild Allison 700 series. $40,000.00 To do the inside,remove the back door,redo the side entrance with a stairwell, install a 10K diesel genset,add a real good hitch assembly to tow a 38' stacker. Throw in another $6,000.00 for screw-ups and I forgots. That adds up to $126,000.00 for a no name morphadite. That sits on a 26yr.old molested chassis. Now if you could have owned it for $10,000.00???????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????????????

.....DD are like Harleys they mark their spot on the driveway everyday- all day......I never missed mine as I smelled like burned oil all the time even after they steamed the engine....my White 9000 was the same way....dripping and burning.....I don't miss those POS one bit.....geofkaye

For a Chevy fan hauling some collectable cars it probably is not a bad start if the price were lower. The DD can be worked to make more power if you want. I am not a fan but would say they are OK just not preferred. Probably not a bad choice for a RV pulling a trailer. If I could find a good Ford tractor, it might be a decent choice for my hauler someday. Some of the later ones look decent and they seem to hold their value surprisingly well. They are uncommon out west. I have heard they were decent rigs but have nothing to back that up.
