NO CDL is required. Especially if the HDT (or MDT) is registered as an rv.
theres a guy in calgary (i know its far from you) that modifies & sells used HDT's for 5th wheel/toter home pulling, he retitles the HDTs from commercial to RVs....he could probably tell you whats involved in re-titling.
