It can be done but I don't think you would be happy with the results. You would have to go with a non electronic allison being as your engine has no electronics to control an a Fuller Autoshift or newer Allison. If you can find a low mileage used Allison (or fresh rebuild) and do it yourself the costs msy be reasonable but if you have to buy new and pay for it to be done it may not be reasonable.

I know it is pricey but if it were me making the decision I would trade up to a newer unit with a factory installed Autoshift.
