I was recently at the DMV in the lovely state of California and thought I would pass this along.

I was trying to get my old furniture trailer registered as a non-commercial trailer since it now has living quarters in it. They did not want to do it since it was 'originally designed' to haul much more than any tag retail travel trailer was designed. They menitoned something about a notice that was sent to all DMV's about 'truck conversions' and how they will no longer accept a class 8 conversion as a motorhome no matter how much it has changed. If the original intent was to haul commercial loads, then it will be a commercial vehicle. I did finally convince them that I was legal to register this as a travel trailer (took about 2 hours of 'discussion' and reading over the vehicle code). Now we just have to see if the CHP has anything to say when I cross the scales.

Anyway, just thought I would pass it along (fwiw).
